Dr Liz RyanSenior Writing Monster
From an early age, I was always curious about the world around me. The closest I could get to figuring out how the world worked was to throw myself into science! Inevitably, this resulted in me pursuing and completing a PhD. I’ve heard it said that having a PhD opens up the world to you, and I really believe this is true. Following my PhD, I did a post doc in Australia and was lucky enough to travel the world afterwards, which has left me with some amazing memories.
However, I was never 100% sure that lab research was the right fit for me. When I came across medical writing, it felt a bit like my own personal lightbulb moment: a unique, stimulating, creative and uber-interesting profession. It’s been over 5 years since I started in med comms, and I’m enjoying my job now more than ever. I’ve worked across a plethora of disease areas and therapies, and attended conferences in Vienna and Barcelona. I’ve been involved in the development of websites, apps and interactive sales tools, as well as some of the “grittier” more scientific stuff, such as publications and conference reports.
I’m so grateful that I found medical writing and I can’t wait to see where my career takes me next!
